Grandma is going to do some knitting for you

When we were on holiday Grandma bought some wool to knit you a jumper. And today we went into Brentwood and bought a couple of patterns for her to use. So, hopefully, when you are born you will have something to wear that she made for you.

(And I know that Great-Grandma is knitting a blanket for you)!

So you're going to be a boy

So you’re going to be a boy, and your mum says that you’re good at kicking. Maybe you’ll be a footballer. I’m going to have to get some practice in so that I can kick a ball around with you. I’ll look forward to that!

I’ve been getting some practice in, ready for when you are born! Becky and Dan have been to visit, and they brought Samuel with them of course. And it was nice to have a cuddle with Samuel!

Will you like spicy food?

The last post has led me to wonder about whether or not you’ll like spicy food. Perhaps I’ll be the one to introduce you, in time, to curry!

Your Mum has come to stay

Hello, little one. Your Mum has come to stay with us for a few days, and Grandma has taken her shopping this afternoon. We’re going to look after her, and cook her some of her favourite food. Yesterday we had Chilli Con Carne, but I didn’t make it too hot and spicy so that it wouldn’t upset you.

It’s good having her staying with us, and it would be nice if your Dad was able to be here as well. Unfortunately, though, he’s got to work, preparing for youth camp next week.

I now know why grandparents are poor

Your Grandma and I have been out shopping today, and we looked at some baby and children’s clothes, and I could have filled a whole shopping basket with things for you. You will be the best dressed child ever, and we will be some of the poorest grandparents. I’m sure that your Mum and Dad will tell us off for spoiling you, but we won’t care!

You have a new name

Your Mum and Dad have started to talk about you to friends, and they are calling you Kiddlet! I’m not sure about that, but it won’t be for very long. When you’re born, you’ll have a proper name. I wonder what it will be.

An exciting day

Today has been an exciting day because, although we’ve known about your arrival for a few weeks, we’ve not been able to tell anyone else. But your Mum and Dad told us that we could tell other people from today, and that’s what we have been doing. Lots of people send their love!

And we’ve also been out shopping, and bought a baby grow for you, for when you are born. It’s so sweet!

Can you tell that Grandma and I are excited!

What you need to know about your Dad - 2
Your Dad loves sport, and he’s normally very good at it (and very competitive). But I’m glad that I managed to get this photo of him trying to hit a golf ball and missing!
Your Dad will love running around in the garden or the park with you, or kicking a ball, or playing catch. But you’ll have to remember to let him win occasionally!

What you need to know about Grandad - 2

Grandad loves reading, and I look forward to reading to you when you come to visit me. I’ve got loads of books that we’ll enjoy reading together – lovely stories with some great pictures for you to look at as well. I want to introduce you to two mischievous monkeys called Chimp and Zee.

From now on, whenever I go into a bookshop, I’ll see if I can find a book that I think that you and I will like reading together.
